As the storm is expected to clear out by late afternoon today, an excessive amount of heavy rainfall as well as wind gusts up to 50 mph has hit our area.
The Village of Babylon crews are cleaning out drains, handling downed trees and clearing up debris from the storm.

Please follow the below instructions:
1. Ensure your safety and that of others by stopping all activities near the downed line.
2. Determine if it is a power line or a communication line (cable, internet, or phone). Power lines are typically at the top of utility poles and thicker, while communication lines are thinner and located lower on the pole.
3. If the line is identified as a power line, call 911 and then the local power company to report the downed line. If it is a communication line, contact the specific service provider that owns the line.
4. Remember, it is always safer to call the utility company directly for downed cable lines to ensure the correct response and safety measures are taken.
