As per the Department of Health the pool decks must be unobstructed with at least 5.5 feet of clearance around all sides of the pool. In the event of an emergency, it is essential that the area is easily accessible to emergency personnel. Additionally, if chairs were permitted people would be inclined to bring their belongings including bags and shoes which cause potential trip hazards and violate the health code.

Unfortunately, due to certain residents “sharing” their pool passes with other people and non-residents, it became necessary to address this issue. In an effort to ensure that the Village Pool is being utilized by the residents that pay for it, we need to accurately verify names and addresses as you enter. This is the only pool in the area located right on the water and has become a very desirable spot for all that don’t live in the Village.

As per the Department of Health food and drinks are considered potential contaminants and are not permitted on the pool deck or near the water. We follow all Department of Health guidelines and policies.

As per the Department of Health, patrons are supposed to shower before entering the pool area. We have a shower near the kiddie pool, and we have the main pool entrance ramp with water spouts to clean people’s feet. We pride ourselves on maintaining a clean facility and dirty shoes with contaminants and/or sand on the decking would compromise the cleanliness of our pools. (If it is a medical necessity to wear water shoes, management approval is required)

As per the Department of Health life jackets/puddle jumpers/swimmies provide a false sense of security and are not approved for public pools in NYS. (If it is medical necessity, see management with a doctor’s note as well as a labeled US Coast Guard Type I-III flotation device)

Snorkels create a false sense of security, potentially leading to dangerous situations like shallow water blackout by encouraging breath-holding for extended periods, especially if the user isn’t properly trained. Additionally, snorkels can obstruct a lifeguard’s ability to quickly assess a swimmer in distress.

Unfortunately not as there is no mooring permitted anywhere along the bulkhead inside the Village Pool facility. The bulkhead is not to be used as an entrance and/or exit to the facility as we are required by the Department of Health to keep a record of who enters the facility. Additionally, and most importantly we have a unique setting, and safety is always the priority. Patrons are not permitted to access the bay from our facility and are required to be ten feet from the bulkhead while visiting the pool.

We are not a party venue, we are a public pool that is paid for by taxpayers, so we are unable to close the pool, or areas of the pool to accommodate private events. Additionally, staff would be required for such events and are also paid through taxpayer money making private events impossible. We occasionally hold events for community-based organizations only.

Some years back the Village did in fact replace the existing sand with fine, beach-like sand and within two weeks’ time it all blew into the bay. Due to our location, we are very susceptible to the elements, especially wind, and need to have “sand” with some weight to it.

Yes! We have lockers in our restroom changing areas. Please bring your own lock and be sure to clean the locker out after each visit to the pool. We have showers and changing stalls as well.

As per the NYS Smoke-Free Parks Law smoking and vaping is not permitted anywhere inside the facility.
