Good afternoon, Babylon Village Residents:
In anticipation of the upcoming snowstorm system headed our way and with the prediction of a dangerous accumulation of snow and possible coastal flooding, in the best interests of the Village of Babylon, I have declared a local State of Emergency that will begin on Sunday, January 25th, 2026 and will continue to remain in effect for as long as necessary but not to exceed past Friday, January 30th, 2026.
All Village departments will take whatever action necessary to provide assistance, to protect public safety, health, property and to provide service to the residents of Babylon Village. During this time, procedures are in place for implementation of snow storm and coastal storm hazard protocols.
This State of Emergency mobilizes our Babylon Fire Department and also authorizes the Suffolk County Police Department to prohibit or control all vehicular traffic throughout public streets in the village.
** Please : We ask all our Village residents to keep cars off the streets and roadways for emergency vehicles and for plowing services to be effect**
All Village residents are able to utilize our municipal lots during this State of Emergency for parking. This includes our waterfront community as well.
Please be sure to place a note in the driver side front window as to why you are parked in the municipal parking lot.
If travel is absolutely necessary, residents should drive slowly and carefully, ensuring their vehicles are winterized and in proper working condition. Speed limit in the Village of Babylon: 25 mph.
When plowing driveways, please be cognizant not to block fire hydrants with snow mounds. Important Numbers:
