Project Description:
The Village of Babylon proposes to dredge Beach Canal boat basin and an area of the Great South Bay which approaches the canal by clamshell bucket to a depth of 4 feet below mean low water. The proposed dredge area is approximately 16,700 square feet and the estimated volume of material to be removed is approximately 315 cubic yards. The resultant dredged material is proposed to be dewatered on site in the adjacent parking lot and then be disposed of at an approved upland facility. The proposed project is located in Beach Canal at the southern end of Fire Island Ave, Village of Babylon, Town of Babylon, 11702, Suffolk County, SCTM 102-22 3-66 & 68.

Project is an Unlisted Action and will not have a significant impact on the environment. A Negative Declaration is on file. A coordinated review was not performed.

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination
Cultural resource lists and maps have been checked. The proposed activity is not in an area of identified archaeological sensitivity and no known registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified or documented for the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.
Coastal Management
This project is located in a Coastal Management area and is subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.
