Dated: Babylon, New York

Applicant:
Long Island Integrative Health
1613 Merrick Road
Merrick, NY 11566
Dr. Leslie Sean Ramsammy, MD – Merrick, NY
Jenna Spatafora, PA-C – Deer Park, NY
Business: Long Island Integrative Health, 157 Deer Park Ave., Babylon, SCTM: 010-04-003
Dr. Ramsammy introduced himself as the owner of Long Island Integrated Health. He created the model of a natural pain management facility, with the main center in Merrick and centers all over the Island. Dr. Ramsammy stated that they are opening a natural pain management site within Fitness Incentive. The office will be one room that will focus on pain management; trigger point and/or nerve-block injections, medical massage and IV therapy treatments.
Trustee Seibert asked if a physician would be on site. Dr. Ramsammy stated that there are 2 Physician Assistants (PA’s) that will be cycling around and he does not stay on site, but will be stopping in throughout the day, Trustee Seibert asked if the PAs are qualified to do these procedures, which the applicants stated is small needles, similar to acupuncture and they are qualified to do these procedures. Trustee Seibert asked if lab work would be done on premises and how will that work. Dr. Ramsammy explained they can draw blood on site, but all lab work will be done from the main office in Merrick or a lab, and this location is a small room, with a table that would be exclusively for trigger points, medical massages and IV drips.
Trustee Bencivenga wanted some clarification on trigger points and nerve blockers, stating the blockers are invasive. Dr. Ramsammy explained there are different types of nerve blockers, and this would be slightly higher than a trigger point injection. Trustee Bencivenga also inquired about needles and medical waste disposal. Dr. Ramsammy said the PA will properly transport them to the main center in Merrick for proper disposal; no storage on site.
Trustee Cardali asked if the PA’s are certified to do all the procedures they are offering at this location; where will clients come from and clarification of hours. Dr. Ramsammy stated the PAs are all licensed and insured. His clientele are usually patrons of the place they are in, in this case, gym clientele . The hours will be 8:00AM -8:00 PM to be in line with Fitness Incentive gym. Trustee Cardali asked if they have an emergency plan in place and the doctor assured the board it is usually established within the business they are renting.
Mayor Adams asked if staff will be making home visits, and the applicant stated no. The Mayor asked, since there is no doctor on site, what would happen if there was an emergency, such as an allergic reaction? Both Dr. Ramsammy and Ms. Jessica Spatafora (the PA) stated the protocol for this is to call 9-1-1 and then the doctor.
Ms. Spatafora clarified that as a PA, they are trained in how to handle an emergency. The Mayor asked about the list of services that was presented to the Board. It was confirmed this location would only do trigger point injections or a nerve block drip, massages and IV drips.
The meeting was opened to the public. No one addressed the Board.
On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Bencivenga and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to reserve decision.
On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Bencivenga and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 7:18 PM.
