The meeting opened at 7:06 PM.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Trustee Cardali.
The Village Clerk read the legal notice:
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon will hold a Public Hearing at the Municipal Building, 153 West Main Street, Babylon, NY, on Tuesday, June 27th, 2023, at 7:00 PM, or as soon thereafter as can be heard, to consider the adoption of proposed Local Law 0627PH §365-20 of 2023 amending Chapter §365-20 Land Use Regulations for the Downtown Business District.
Complete text of the above Local Law is available in the Office of the Village Clerk, on the Village website: www.villageofbabylonny.gov, or can be requested by calling the Village Clerk’s Office at (631) 669-1500.
All interested persons should appear at the above time and place, and they will be given an opportunity to be heard.
Trustee Seibert said that he believed this amendment was ready to go forward as is.
Trustee Bencivenga said that he agreed with this proposal, but questioned the number of parking spaces that was included in paragraph 2 in the Off-Street Parking section of the text of the amendment. It is supposed to be listed as 2. The correction was made.
Trustee Cardali said that he had no objections, as long as all buildings are brought up to fire safety standards.
Mayor Adams stated that this will be good for the Downtown area and we are definitely moving in the right direction.
The meeting was opened to the public; the following addressed the board:
James Giorgio, 180 Deer Park Avenue, spoke in favor of proposed amendment
On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Bencivenga and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to reserve decision.
On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Bencivenga and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 7:26 PM.
