Mayor Adams explained the need for the law. The building inspector had received a few complaints that residents have tents up for parties or gatherings and are leaving them up to do work or run a business under them. The reason for this code, and the only reason, is for us to be able to enforce a summons to maintain the aesthetics of the neighborhood.
Trustee Seibert is appropriate with the linear square footage- the size of the tent- so for that reason he is in favor.
Trustee Bencivenga stated that it makes sense in terms of what we are trying to avoid, so it is a sensible resolution.
Trustee Cardali stated that the mayor and trustees discussed lowering the fee. This law does not pertain to people using tents for recreational use for under a week. This is more for larger tents over 200 square feet. With a smaller tent size and lower fee, he is in favor.
Trustee Szabo conceptionally supports the resolution. He feels it is important to have this documented as rules and regulations within the Village. With the said changes, he supports the law.
The meeting was opened to the public, and the following person addressed the Board:
- · Michael Golub, 1 Stuart Ave.
On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Szabo and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to reserve decision.
On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Szabo and unanimously carried, the
the meeting adjourned at 7:13 PM.
