On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Silvestri and unanimously carried, the meeting opened at 7:10 p.m.  On the motion of Trustee Cardali, seconded by Trustee Silvestri and unanimously carried, the Board entered into executive session at 7:15 p.m. to discuss current litigation, at which time the work session was ended on the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Silvestri and unanimously carried.  On the motion of Trustee Silvestri, seconded by Trustee Seibert and unanimously carried, the executive session ended at 8:10 p.m.

Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees opened at 8:10 PM.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Trustee Seibert.

On the motion of Mayor Adams, seconded by Trustee Silvestri and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the May 25, 2021 regular meeting of the Board of Trustees and dispense with the reading of the same.

On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Silvestri and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to hire Pablo Gonzalez as a full-time highway laborer with an annual salary of $29,120.00 effective May 17, 2021.

On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Silvestri and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to hire Nicholas Raffe as a part-time parks laborer with a salary of $10.00 per hour effective May 17, 2021.

On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Silvestri and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Saint Patrick’s Division 2, to hold a parade on Saturday, October 2, 2021 to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. (Due to the on-going construction on Locust Avenue, the parade route is still to be determined.) This permission is granted contingent upon timely receipt of required certificates of insurance with the Village of Babylon listed as an additional insured, as well as a signed and notarized hold harmless agreement.

On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Silvestri and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Saint Patrick’s Division 2, to place a permanent monument at Argyle Park, just west of the falls, to honor the Ancient Order of Hibernians as they celebrate their 75th anniversary.

On the motion of Trustee Silvestri, seconded by Trustee Seibert and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to increase the hourly rate of Golf Starters Bob Mayo and Peter Montalbano to $9.75 per hour effective May 25, 2021.

On the motion of Trustee Silvestri, seconded by Trustee Seibert and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Saint Patrick’s Division 2, to hold a 5K Running Race for Charity at 8:00 AM on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Southards Pond. This permission is granted contingent upon timely receipt of required certificates of insurance with the Village of Babylon listed as an additional insured, as well as a signed and notarized hold harmless agreement.

On the motion of Trustee Silvestri, seconded by Trustee Seibert and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission the West Islip School District to use the Sumpwams Golf Course for the boys’ and girls’ golf teams during the fall and spring seasons of the 2021-2022 school year.  This permission is granted contingent upon timely receipt of required certificates of insurance with the Village of Babylon listed as an additional insured, as well as a signed and notarized hold harmless agreement.

On the motion of Trustee Silvestri, seconded by Trustee Seibert and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the following warrant for June 8, 2021:

            General Account:                               $ 101,642.22

            Conklin House:                                   $   13,023.40

            TOTAL GENERAL FUND:                  $ 114,665.62

            Trust Fund:                                         $     2,355.60

            TOTAL:                                               $ 117,021.22

On the motion of Trustee Cardali, seconded by Trustee Seibert and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to increase the salary of Mary Beth Biordy Liles, part-time Assistant Pool Director, to $17.00. per hour effective May 28, 2021.

On the motion of Trustee Cardali, seconded by Trustee Seibert and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to accept the resignation of Adam Ahlers as full-time highway laborer effective June 9, 2021.

On the motion of Trustee Cardali, seconded by Trustee Seibert and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to accept the resignation of Pablo Gonzalez as a full-time highway laborer effective May 24, 2021.

On the motion of Trustee Cardali, seconded by Trustee Seibert and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to Cub Scout Pack 99 to use the gazebo on Monday, June 14th, 2021 from 6:45 PM to 8:00 PM for their moving up ceremony. This permission is granted contingent upon timely receipt of required certificates of insurance with the Village of Babylon listed as an additional insured, as well as a signed and notarized hold harmless agreement.

On the motion of Trustee Cardali, seconded by Trustee Seibert and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the Babylon Village Girl Scouts to hold their Bronze Award Ceremony at the gazebo on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at 6:00 PM.  This permission is granted contingent upon timely receipt of required certificates of insurance with the Village of Babylon listed as an additional insured, as well as a signed and notarized hold harmless agreement.

Mayor Adams thanked and gave kudos to the Highway & Sanitation Department, Parks Department and Code Enforcement, especially Skip Gardner, Scott Glenn, Jay Brunjes, and Ray Peterson, for the wonderful job they did with the recent activities in the Village.

The meeting adjourned at 8:25 PM.
