DATED: March 12 , 2026
Babylon, New York 11702
The Village Clerk read the attached correspondence.
Mayor Adams thanked Treasurer Andrew Reichel for all his hard work and asked him to the podium to discuss budget.
Treasurer Andrew Reichel started by saying the last page of the proposed budget that is online is incorrect, and the amended proposed budget will be posted the next morning.
The proposed budget for 2026/27 is $15,307,313 this is an increase of around $731,000 over the current year’s budget. This is an increase of 5.02% increase from budget to budget. This is a tax rate increase of 4.97% which does pierce the tax cap. The new proposed tax rate is $19.84 per 100 assessed value. It increases $0.94 per assessed value.
For an assessed value of: Taxes 2025/26: Taxes 2026/27: Increase of:
5,000 $ 945 $ 992 $ 47
10,000 $1,890 $1,984 $ 94
15,000 $2,835 $2,976 $141
If we did put out a budget that was at the tax cap, the tax rate increase would be 2.275% , with a difference a little over $236,000.
Treasurer Andrew Reichel explained the budget preparation process. The Treasurer reaches out to all the department heads and Trustees that oversee certain departments to submit budgets. Then it is put into a proposed budget that the Treasurer and Mayor review line by line. Also, there is a budget committee which is overseen by Trustee Bencivenga, which met a few times and made changes, and went back to the Mayor. Treasurer Reichel then discussed certain revenues and expenditures in detail.
The meeting was opened to the public; the following person addressed the Board:
- · Michael Golub, 1 Stuart Avenue
- · Trish McGlinchey, 151 Sumpams Avenue
- · Kim Synder, 141 Cockenoe Avenue

The Mayor thanked the Treasurer for being there and all those in attendance for coming.
On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Bencivenga and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to reserve decision.
