The Village Clerk read the legal notice:
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a Public Hearing will be held at the Municipal Building, 153 West Main Street, Babylon, NY, on Tuesday, November 28th, 2017, at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as can be heard to consider the adoption of Local Law #12 of the year 2017 amending Chapter 281-3 pertaining to rental permit application inspection requirements.
Complete text of the above Local Law is available in the office of the Village Clerk.
All interested persons should appear at the above time and place, and they will be given an opportunity to be heard.
Attorney Sikowitz explained that this Public Hearing is to discuss adopting Local Law #12 of 2017, which would allow the Village access to residential rental properties to inspect to be sure they are up to code and that there are no un-livable conditions. Attorney Sikowitz urged the acceptance of this law.
The Board all agreed that this was a very worthwhile law to have in place; the extensive research done indicates that this is much needed to ensure that safety and health requirements are being adhered to. They clarified that the Building Inspector is a Code Enforcer.
Meeting was opened to the public; No one was present to address the Board.
On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to reserve decision.
