Max approached the Board to discuss his plans for the Brick Oven Pizzeria he would like to open at 376 Deer Park Avenue. He explained that Molto Pizza is not a ‘typical pizzeria’; this is very unique, wood-fired, Neapolitan pizza, which differs from the other Italian Restaurants and Pizzerias in the Village. There will be seating (with waitress service) & take-out service; delivery service is being considered. The menu will consist of various pizzas, paninis, and salads; In addition to soft drinks, he is requesting permission to serve wine & beer.
While the application indicated the hours as 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Sunday through Saturday, the Board amended the closing hours as follows:
Sunday: 10:00 p.m.; Monday through Thursday: 11:00 p.m.; Friday: 12:00 Midnight; and Saturday: 11:30 p.m. The bulk of the business is anticipated to occur during the early evening hours.
Although the original plans included seating for 24, permission is being requested to increase the seating to a total of 40 seats, with regular-height tables (not the high tables as in Molto Vino.) There will be no outdoor seating.
Max assured the Board that revised site-plans, clearly indicating the revisions increasing seating and re-positioning the oven, will be forthcoming, to both the Board of Trustees and the Building Department.
The façade of the building will be altered to have ‘book-style’ doors, that completely open, allowing more light and an entrance into the front of the building. The back entrance and ample parking lot should lessen the need for street parking and make take-out service more convenient.
The parking lot will accommodate approximately 50 cars. A minimum of 15 feet past the rear of the building will be paved to accommodate handicap parking by the takeout entrance. Odor containment measures will be in place so as to not offend neighboring apartments. The wood for the oven will be stored along the South wall. Fire box remnants are to be stored in a separate steel container, away from the building.
The Board emphasized again that anything other than what was originally presented to the Planning Board has to be revisited with the Planning Board and revised site plans must be submitted to the Planning Board, Building Inspector, and the Board of Trustees.
The meeting was opened to the public; no one addressed the Board.
On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to reserve decision.
Meeting adjourned 7:20 p.m.
