The Deputy Clerk read the legal notice:
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a Public Hearing will be held at the Municipal Building, 153 West Main Street, Babylon, NY, on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as can be heard to consider the adoption of Local Law #3 of the year 2018, amending Chapter 365, Article VI, adding Section 365.31.1, Charges for Consultant Services Established.
Complete text of the above Local Law is available in the office of the Village Clerk.
All interested persons should appear at the above time and place, and they will be given an opportunity to be heard.
Attorney Glass explained that this Local Law provides the mechanism that allows the Village to pass on [to the applicant or developers] the costs incurred to retain professionals for their expertise, such as engineers, professional planners, specialized attorneys, financial experts, etc. This will help offset the expense to the Village for projects involving more work and larger sums of money and provides a more level playing field when dealing with larger developers who may have their own experts. The process would involve setting up an escrow account at the time it is needed, and the applicant can redeposit in the account as needed.
The meeting was opened to the public; no one was present to address the Board.
On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to reserve decision and close the hearing.
The meeting adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
