The Village Clerk read the Legal Notice:
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a Public Hearing will be held at the Municipal Building, 153 West Main Street, Babylon, NY, on Tuesday, July 25th, 2017, at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as can be heard to consider the adoption of Local Law #8 of the year 2017, pertaining to Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
Complete text of the above Local Law is available in the office of the Village Clerk.
All interested persons should appear at the above time and place, and they will be given an opportunity to be heard.
Attorney Sikowitz explained that this local law addresses the issue of Unmanned Aircraft Systems, commonly known as drones. It is not to prohibit owning or operating a drone, but rather to protect the privacy of our residents.
Although Federal Statutes may be in place regarding the use of drones, the Village does have the right to impose limits for use within the Village of Babylon by passing a Local Law, which would be enforced by Village Code Officers. Many other Villages and Municipalities already have Local Laws in place addressing this issue.
The meeting was opened to the public;
Those who spoke in favor of this Local Law:
Tom Longenecker, 25 Clinton Street, Babylon
Russel Bahm, 23 Harbour Road
Kitty Hoyler, 52 Edgewood, West Islip

Mathew Minicozzi, 103 Wyandanch Ave.
Lloyd Crosman, 324 Fire Island Ave.
On the Motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to reserve decision.
