A work session was held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon on Tuesday, November 24th, 2015. On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, the meeting opened at 7:12 p.m. On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 7:58 p.m.

Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees opened at 8:02 p.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Trustee Amelia.
On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the November 10th, 2015 regular meeting of the Board of Trustees and dispense with the reading of the same.
The Village Clerk read the letter from the Fire Department dated November 24th, 2015:
At the regular monthly meeting of the Fire Council held November 17, 2015, the Fire Council took the following actions and we await your approval:

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to accept the Fire Department actions as read.
On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to terminate the employment of Steve Murphy as a part-time Sanitation Laborer effective September 16, 2015.
On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED that the red meter bags be in place for the holiday season prior to the Old Fashioned Village Christmas event to be held Friday, December 4th, 2015, as requested by the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce.
On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to renew the contract with Westlaw for the books, McKinney’s Laws of New York, with an increase of 7% annually for the period of November 1, 2015 to October 31, 2016.
On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to terminate the employment of Matthew Marx as a Sanitation Laborer effective November 16, 2015.
On the motion of Trustee Amelia, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to terminate the employment of Patrick Chatterton effective November 13, 2015.
On the motion of Trustee Amelia, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to approve the following warrant for November 24, 2015:
General Account: $455,722.62
TOTAL GENERAL FUND: $455,722.62
TRUST FUND: $ 1,840.52
TOTAL: $457,563.14
On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to grant permission to Russell Brodzawsky of Fire Island Shave Ice to maintain temporary signs on the building located at 14B Railroad Avenue, while awaiting approval of permanent signs by the Architectural Review Board.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to dispose of the following records from the Village Clerk’s Office as per the New York State archives record retention schedule MU-1: Board Room Requests, 2007 through 2011
Trustee Basile mentioned the upcoming Holiday events at the Conklin House:
Thursday, December 3rd, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.-cookie drop off for Cookie Contest
Friday, December 4th, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Conklin House Open House
Sunday, December 6th, 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., “Picture Perfect Christmas”
On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to grant a license to the following applicants to drive a taxi cab for Sunset Taxi in the Village of Babylon:
William MacFarlane, Michael Malone, John Monti, Thomas Quinn
Mayor Scordino made the following announcements:
- Please be advised that there will be no second Board meeting in December.
- The Board of Trustees will hold Public Hearings on Tuesday, December 8th, 2015, at 7:00 p.m., to consider the adoption of the following Local Laws of 2015:
Local Law #7 of 2015, to amend current Village Code regarding setback requirements for an exterior elevator or lift in a Flood Zone.
Local Law #8 of 2015, to allow adding certain charges to be levied on a tax roll.
- Saturday, November 28th, 2015, is Small Business Saturday. We encourage all of our residents to shop locally and support our Village merchants.
- Village of Babylon Offices will be closed and there will be no rubbish or garbage pick-up on Thursday, November 26th, 2015, in observance of the Thanksgiving Day Holiday. Residents should not put rubbish or recycling out to the curb on holidays. These items should be put out the following week on your regularly scheduled rubbish/recycling day.
The meeting was opened to the public:
Frank Curtin, 420 Fire Island Avenue, inquired about the renewal contract for Mckinney’s Laws Books, and the proposed Local Laws, #7 & #8.
