A work session was held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, the meeting was opened at 4:09 p.m. On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned at 5:40 p.m.

Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees opened at 8:03 p.m.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the October 22, 2013 regular meeting of the Board of Trustees and dispense with reading of the same.
On the motion of Trustee Amelia, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to issue refunds in the amount of $25 to each of the applicants listed below for the return of one (1) ZBA sign for partial refund:

RESOLVED to remove the following exemption, and restore full assessment to

51 WILSON DRIVE – formerly a Life Estate for Josephine Jedrlinic, an Alternative Veterans Exemption, with a total assessed value of 500, and bill the current owner, Judith Jedrlinic, $131.50.*

On the motion of Trustee Amelia, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED that the red meter bags be in place for the holiday season prior to the Old Fashioned Village Christmas event to be held on Friday, December 6th, 2013, as requested by the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce.
On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to hire Elizabeth Waters as a clerk typist with an annual salary of $24,000, effective October 21, 2013.
On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to approve the attached change order (#1) from FML Contracting regarding the Village Pool Restoration work.
On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to issue refunds totaling $2,559.00 for the 2012-2013 Tax Year, as per the attached Assessor’s Petitions.

RESOLVED to dispose of the following records as per the New York State Archives Retention Schedule M-1:

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to issue refund in the amount of $38.95 to Sandra Carlin for overpayment of taxes on 61 East Shore Drive, Section 20 Block 3 Lot 12.2.
On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to hire Ariel Klopfer as a greenhouse laborer with a salary of $8.50 per hour effective November 4, 2013.
On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to appoint Elizabeth Waters as the secretary to the Architectural Review Board with an annual salary of $1000, effective October 21, 2013.
On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to issue a refund in the amount of $100 to Barbara Walsh Clarke for the Gazebo Wedding scheduled for September 28, 2013.
On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to increase the annual salary of Samuel Abedin $1,000 effective October 29, 2013, having completed his six month probationary period.
On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to grant permission to the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce to use the outdoor speaker systems at various buildings in the Business District to play tasteful holiday music during the Old Fashioned Christmas event on December 6, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
And ALSO RESOLVED to grant permission to the businesses in the Village to play tasteful holiday music on their outdoor speaker systems throughout the holiday shopping season.
Approval is for the following dates and times:
December 6th, 2013 to December 24th, 2013, during the hours of 12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m.
The Chamber will be responsible for monitoring the music to insure that the volume is kept to a pleasing level.

RESOLVED to approve and grant licenses to the following applicant(s) to drive a taxi cab for Sunset Taxi in the Village of Babylon: Angelo Auriemma
On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to approve and grant licenses to the following applicant(s) to drive a taxi cab for Lindy’s Taxi in the Village of Babylon: William Macfarlane
Mayor Scordino announced that Saturday, November 30th, 2013 has been designated as Small Business Saturday. We encourage all our residents to shop locally and support our Village merchants!
