A work session was held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015. On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, the meeting opened at 4:30 p.m. On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 5:30p.m.

Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees opened at 8:00 p.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Trustee Davida.
On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the May 26th, 2015 regular meeting of the Board of Trustees and dispense with the reading of the same.
Armen Enkababien, Commander of the American Legion, Babylon Post #94, approached the Board to give a Certificate of Appreciation and special acknowledgement of thanks to Mayor Scordino and the Board for being so helpful during his post as Commander of the American Legion. Mayor Scordino thanked the American Legion for the fantastic job they have done for the Village, especially during Superstorm Sandy, describing the American Legion as the driving force that organized volunteers and put everything together to offer help to our residents.

RESOLVED to dispose of the following records as per the New York State archives record retention schedule MU-1:

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to issue a refund in the amount of $660.00 to John Verbeke, Jr., as he will not be using his boat slip this season. [Slip #49 at Lewis Pond]
On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to increase the salary of Timothy Pitt .50₵ per hour effective June 1, 2015.
On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried,
WHEREAS a Public Hearing was held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015,
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED to approve the application of The Villager, Inc, to change the façade of The Villager Craft Beer Bar and Restaurant, located at 262 Deer Park Avenue, subject to Covenants and Restrictions to follow.
On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to grant permission to St. Joseph’s Church to maintain two temporary signs, approximately 4’ x 8’, on the front lawn at 39 North Carll Avenue and the side lawn at 40 Grove Place as follows:
From August 8th to September 11th, 2105:
advertising a new worship experience “coming soon”.
From September 12th to October 4th, 2015:
advertising the new worship experience ” starting Sunday, October 4th, at 11:45 am mass”

RESOLVED to hire the following employees with regard to the pool for the 2015 season:

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to grant permission to the Babylon Carriage House to maintain a 4’ x 1.5’ temporary sign at 21 Fire Island Avenue, from June 15th through July 15th, 2015, to advertise their “Wednesday Lobster Bake”. Any additional time will require a new application for permission.
Trustee Davida commented that we have already held three registrations for swimming lessons and pool passes; the last registration will be held at the pool on June 20th, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon. He also announced that the pool will open for Father’s Day weekend, then close, and officially open at Noon on June 26th for the 2015 season.
On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to approve the following warrant for June 9, 2015:
General Account: $ 265,098.70

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to grant permission to Maria Siragusa to maintain a 33” x 33” temporary sign on the building located at 14 Deer Park Avenue, from June 5th to July 5th, 2015, to advertise her business, Sartoria Boutique; Tailoring and Alteration Services.
On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to grant permission to the First Presbyterian Church to maintain a 4’x8’ temporary sign on the fence in front of the Church building located at 79 East Main Street, from June 6th to July 6th, 2015, to announce the dates of their Vacation Bible School.
On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to change William Whittier to the position of Enforcement Coordinator as per his contract effective June 1, 2015 to May 31, 2016.
On the motion of Trustee Amelia, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED that the following bands perform at our Summer Concert Program:

On the motion of Trustee Amelia, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to grant permission to the residents of Litchfield Avenue to hold a Block Party on Saturday, July 4th, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with a rain date of July 5th, 2015. The street will be blocked between Park Avenue and Locust Avenue, subject to parking restrictions for emergency purposes.
On the motion of Trustee Amelia, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to issue a refund in the amount of $25.87 to Michael & Kelly Schmitt for overpayment of taxes on 32 Lucinda Drive, Section 18, Block 1, Lot 24.
On the motion of Trustee Amelia, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to hire the following Directors with regard to the Summer Recreation Program:
Gymnastics – Alison Carty, $1,700 per season
Basketball – Sean Logan, $1,700 per season
Tennis – Robert Andrews, $1,700 per season
Trustee Amelia announced that the Summer Recreation Program will begin June 29th and end on August 7th, 2015. The gymnastics show will be on August 6th, 2015. Registration will be held June 23rd through June 25th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at Village Hall.
On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to grant a license to following applicant to drive a taxi cab for Lindy’s Taxi in the Village of Babylon:

Meeting was opened to public;
Frank Curtin, 420 Fire Island Avenue, addressed the Board about drivers speeding throughout the Village and thanked the Mayor for his part in helping to avert a serious accident recently on Simon Street, by arriving to the scene so quickly.
