A work session was held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon on TUESDAY, JUNE 23, 2020, via Zoom and available to be viewed through the YouTube link:

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, the meeting opened at 7:18 p.m.  On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Silvestri and unanimously carried, the Board entered into executive session at 7:20 p.m. to discuss current litigation and adjourned the work session.  On the motion of Trustee Silvestri, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, the executive session ended at 8:02 p.m.

Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees opened at 8:02 p.m.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Trustee Davida.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the June 9, 2020 regular meeting of the Board of Trustees and dispense with the reading of the same.

The Village Clerk read the letter from the Fire Department dated June 17, 2020:        

At the regular monthly meeting of the Fire Council held June 16, 2020, the Fire Council took the following actions and we await your approval:

Placed on Sick Leave:

            James Meurlin effective June 1, 2020

Took off Sick Leave with Medical Clearance:

            Gregory Jemison effective May 19, 2020

            Jessica Sasuk effective June 5, 2020

Accepted as a Probationary Member:

            Michelle Aziz – Hook & Ladder Co. No. 1

            Tomislava Dragun – Electric Hose Company No. 4

Changed Status:

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Silvestri and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to accept the Fire Department actions as read.

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to accept the resignation of Deborah Longo as secretary to the Planning Board effective June 27, 2020.

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the following warrant for June 23, 2020:

            General Account:                    $ 893,642.37

            Conklin House:                       $           46.56

            TOTAL GENERAL FUND:   $ 893,688.93

            Capital Fund:                           $             0.00

            Trust Fund:                              $             0.00

            TOTAL:                                     $ 893,688.93

Trustee Adams commented that we had a great response to registration for the summer programs.

On the motion of Trustee Silvestri, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to appoint Jeanette Yantz as secretary to the Planning Board to fill the unexpired term of Deborah Longo with an annual salary of $1,500.00 effective June 29, 2020.

On the motion of Trustee Silvestri, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to allow the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Suffolk County Water Authority regarding the paving restoration for Howard Street, Babylon.  [SCWA Project #010-19-00-0041 – 200010695]

Trustee Silvestri commented that information will be coming regarding the on-line programs that will be offered at the Conklin House this summer.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Adams and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to hire Liam McGoldrick as a part-time Highway Laborer with a salary of $10.50 per hour effective May 18, 2020.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Adams and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to allow the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Suffolk County Water Authority regarding the paving restoration for North Railroad Avenue, Babylon.  [SCWA Project #010-20-00-0025 – 200011687]

Trustee Davida commented that although the pool is closed for the summer, maintenance and repair work is being done.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Silvestri and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to hire Marc Fisch as a full-time Sanitation Laborer with an annual salary of $30,160 effective February 10, 2020.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Silvestri and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to allow the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Suffolk County Water Authority regarding the paving restoration of Argyle Avenue, Babylon.  [SCWA Project #010-19-00-0020 – 200010626]

The Mayor made the following announcement:

Village of Babylon Offices will be closed and there will be no rubbish or garbage pick-up on Friday, July 3rd, 2020, in observance of the Independence Day Holiday.  Residents should not put rubbish or recycling out to the curb on holidays.

The Mayor thanked everyone for all of their patience.  He commented that restaurants will go into Phase 3 starting tomorrow and reminded everyone to continue with social distancing and to wear masks.
