A Special Meeting was held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon on Tuesday, September 27th, 2016, to discuss revisions to the Covenants and Restrictions for the Theatre/Performing Arts Center at 34 W. Main Street.  On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, the meeting opened at 4:10 p.m.  On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Adams and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 5:00 p.m.

A work session was held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon on Tuesday, September 27th, 2016.  On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, the meeting opened at 7:25 p.m.  On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.

Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees opened at 8:01 p.m.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Trustee Davida.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the September 13th, 2016, regular meeting of the Board of Trustees and dispense with the reading of the same.

The Deputy Clerk read the letter from the Fire Department dated September 21, 2016:

At the regular monthly meeting of the Fire Council held September 20, 2016, the Fire Council took the following actions and we await your approval:

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to accept the Fire Department actions as read.

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the Chamber of Commerce to have temporary signs placed at the entrances to the Village, advertising the Shopping Crawl to be held on October 2, 2016.

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the Chamber of Commerce to hang a 4’ x 10’ temporary banner on the fence of the Boat Yard at the end of Route 231, for each of the events listed below.  (The banner would be installed 2 weeks prior to each event and removed the day after each event.)

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to Nassau County Girl Scout Troop #2252 to hold their Bridging Ceremony at Argyle Park* on Sunday, October 9, 2016, at approximately 11:00 a.m.  This permission is granted contingent upon timely receipt of required Certificates of Insurance with the Village of Babylon listed as an ‘Additional Insured’, as well as a signed and notarized ‘Hold Harmless’ Agreement.                         (Resolution to amend/clarify- Special Mtg. of B.O.T. 9/30/16)*

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the following warrant for September 27th, 2016:

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the First Presbyterian Church to maintain temporary signs at 79 E. Main Street, from October 1st through October 30, 2016, as indicated below:

Halloween Happening, October 26th, 2016…..Fence sign within the campus

Symphony Chorus, October 30th, 2016 ……...Fence sign within the campus & on front fence

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the Post Office Café to maintain temporary signs in the Village of Babylon, at the 4 locations listed, to advertise the 25th Annual 5K Run to be held October 15th, 2016:

            24”x48” signs   :       - Rt. 231 & Montauk Hwy.

                                                - John St. & Cooper St.

                                                - Rt. 109 & Montauk Hwy.

            36” x 120” Banner:       - Store Front of Post Office Café, 130 W Main St.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Adams and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to accept the resignation of Anthony Nunez as a full-time Parking Meter Officer effective September 17, 2016.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Adams and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to re-hire Anthony Nunez as a part-time Parking Meter Officer with a salary of $12.50 per hour effective September 18, 2016.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Adams and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to accept the changes as per the attached Assessor Petitions for:

Trustee Davida commented that the S.T.O.P./Shred program was a success; approximately 70 people attended the STOP portion, and approximately 120 people came to the Shred portion.  He thanked the Highway Department and Code Enforcement for all their help.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to change William Sharkey from part time Parking Meter Officer to full time Parking Meter Officer with an Annual Salary of $26,000, effective September 6, 2016.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to deny permission to the Broadway Ultra Society to hold a 50-Kilometer running event in the Southard’s Pond Trails on Sunday, December 11, 2016, starting at approximately 9:00 a.m., with the staging area to be North of the Park Avenue basketball courts.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant a license to the following applicant to drive a taxi cab for Sunset Taxi in the Village of Babylon:    Timothy Gage

Mayor Scordino made the following announcement:

Village of Babylon Offices will be closed and there will be no rubbish or garbage pick-up on Monday, October 10th, 2016, in observance of the Columbus Day Holiday. 

Residents should not put rubbish or recycling out to the curb on holidays.
