A work session was held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon on Tuesday, September 25, 2018.  On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, the meeting opened at 7:10 p.m. 

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to Tres Palms to hold their Oyster Fest on Sunday, October 14th, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., including permission to allow parking in the Village Pool parking lot. This permission is granted contingent upon timely receipt of required Certificates of Insurance with the Village of Babylon listed as an ‘Additional Insured’, as well as a signed and notarized ‘Hold Harmless’ agreement.

Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees opened at 8:05 p.m.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Trustee Muldowney.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the September 11, 2018 regular meeting of the Board of Trustees and dispense with the reading of the same.

The Deputy Clerk read the letter from the Fire Department dated September 23, 2018:

At the regular monthly meeting of the Fire Council held September 18, 2018, the Fire Council took the following actions and we await your approval:

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Silvestri and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to accept the Fire Department actions as read.

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to change Jalen Ward from a seasonal employee to a part-time Highway Laborer with a salary of $10.00 per hour effective September 4, 2018.

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the following warrant for September 25, 2018:

TOTAL GENERAL FUND:   $ 207,745.49

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Adams and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to change Margaret O’Sullivan from a part-time Parking Meter Officer to a full-time Parking Meter Officer with an annual salary of $27,040.00 effective September 17, 2018.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Adams and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to issue a refund in the amount of $50.00 to Francine Pascone for the return of one Board of Trustees Public Hearing sign for partial refund.

On the motion of Trustee Silvestri, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to Christ Episcopal Church to maintain temporary signs at various merchants in the Village from September 26th through October 16th, 2018, to advertise their 150th Anniversary Basket Bash.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Silvestri and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to change Dominick Fraccalvieri from a seasonal employee to a part-time Highway Laborer with a salary of $10.00 per hour effective September 4, 2018.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Silvestri and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED that the Mayor be authorized to execute a purchase order with a contract to purchase a 2019 E-ONE Heavy Duty Fire Department Pumper Truck for the sum not to exceed $500,000.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to re-appoint Jim Kanzler as alternate member of the Planning Board to fill the unexpired term of Todd Shaw which is to December 2021, effective August 14, 2018.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant a license to the following applicants to drive a taxi cab for Lindy’s Taxi in the Village of Babylon:

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant a license to the following applicants to drive a taxi cab for Sunset Taxi in the Village of Babylon:    Athanasios P. Magoulas

Mayor Scordino made the following announcement:

Village of Babylon Offices will be closed and there will be no rubbish or garbage pick-up on Monday, October 8, 2018, in observance of the Columbus Day Holiday.

Residents should not put rubbish or recycling out to the curb on holidays.
