A work session was held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon on Tuesday, August 20, 2013.  On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, the meeting was opened at 4:15 p.m. On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned at 4:45 p.m.

Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees opened at 7:58 p.m.

The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Trustee Muldowney.

Mayor Scordino requested that everyone observe a moment of silence for those who lost their lives on September 11th.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the August 13th, 2013 regular meeting of the Board of Trustees and dispense with reading of the same.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition to maintain temporary signs at various merchants in the Village of Babylon to advertise the 2013 Golf Skill Challenge Classic to be held on October 21, 2013.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to issue refunds in the amount of $25.00 to each of the applicants listed below for the return of one (1) ZBA sign for partial refund:

Trustee Basile announced that the Conklin House will be honoring the entire Babylon Fire Department on Sunday, September 29, 2013.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the Post Office Café to maintain temporary signs to advertise the 22nd Annual 5k Run on October 19, 2013, at the following locations:

24”x48” Signs at:

Route 231 and Montauk Highway

Route 109 and Montauk Highway

John Street and Cooper Street

36” x 120” Store Front Banner at:

Post Office Café, 130 W. Main Street

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to accept the resignation of Jeremy Mulhall as a part time Highway Laborer effective August 17, 2013.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to determine fees for parking at the Municipal Dock as follows:

Village Residents:       No Fee

Property owners:         $10

Business owners:         $25

Non-residents:             $50

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the following warrant for September 10, 2013:

On the motion of Trustee Amelia, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to issue refund in the amount of $50.00 to the applicant listed below for the return of two (2) ZBA signs for partial refund:

On the motion of Trustee Amelia, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to terminate the employment of Lakwon Hill as a part time sanitation worker effective July 22, 2013.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to issue a refund in the amount of $115.00 to Peter Wieland, 56 Litchfield Avenue, for swim lessons for his son and a family pass at the Village pool.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the attached change order from Hoffman Floor Covering Corp. regarding the Village Pool Deck Resurfacing.

Trustee Davida announced that the Village Pool is closed for the season and he thanked everyone for all their assistance with the pool this year.

Mayor Scordino thanked Trustee Davida for all his hard work in getting the pool opened in time for this season.

On the Motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve and grant licenses to the following applicants to drive a taxi cab for Lindy’s Taxi in the Village of Babylon:

Vincent Magliano

On the Motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve and grant licenses to the following applicants to drive a taxi cab for Sunset Taxi in the Village of Babylon:

Jennifer Gergenti

Mayor Scordino made the following announcement:

The Village of Babylon, in conjunction with the Department of Environmental Control, will participate in its 23rd S.T.O.P. Day  on Saturday, September 28, 2013, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon at the Village Highway truck bay on Carlston Place.  For further information or questions please call 669-4878.
