REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BABYLON WAS HELD IN THE BOARDROOM 153 WEST MAIN STREET BABYLON, NEW YORK ON TUESDAY

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried

 

Mayor Scordino opened the work session at 7:35 p.m.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried

 

Mayor Scordino adjourned the work session at 8:01 p.m.

 

Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees opened at 8:05 p.m.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Trustee Basile

 

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: approve the minutes of the previous meeting and dispense with the reading of the same.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: increase the salary of Richard Heuwetter, $1,000.00 effective May 7, 2012 having completed the six month probationary period.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: restore to the tax roll the following exempt property

Section  17  Block  1   Lot  87

27 Waldbridge Ave., formerly owned by Warren a Veterans Eligible Fund exemption in the amount of $1,400.00 and bill new owner Guigliano in the amount of $23.03 for 47 days @ 0.49 cents a day for the 2011-2012 tax year.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: approve the following warrant for May 8, 2012.

 

General Account:

$234, 649.03

Conklin House Account:

$        672.14

 Golf Course Account:

$    2,472.01

Total General Fund:

$237,793.18

Trust Fund:

$     4,170.19

 Total:

$241,963.37

 

On the motion Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of $605.00 to John Verbeke as he will be subletting his boat slip for the 2012 season.

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: hire Robert Froelich as a consultant to the Village of Babylon Treasurer’s office at the rate of $15.00/hr. not to exceed 17 hours per week, effective May 9, 2012.

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: grant permission to The Race Committee of the Babylon Rotary Club to hold the Annual Babylon Village Classic 10K run on Sunday, August 19, 2012. See attached.

 

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the total amount of $50.00 to the following for the return of ZBA signs

for a partial refund

Ordon Enterprises       $25.00

Rhonda Sentochnik    $25.00

 

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: place the attached unpaid liens on the 2012-2013 tax roll.

 

Trustee Davida announced that registration for swimming lessons will start this Saturday, May 12, 2012.

 

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of $75.00 to Daniel O’Donnell for the return of 3 Board of Trustees signs for a partial refund.

 

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: grant permission to Babylon Village Arts Council to maintain temporary signs at Argyle Park for the “Art in the Park” Show.  The signs will be up for that day only.

 

Trustee Basile announced that the plant sale held this past weekend was a huge success and thanked Evelyn and Bill and the many volunteers for the great job they did.

 

Trustee Basile, also announced that this Wednesday night the Conklin House will hold the Daughters of the American Revolution lead by Karen Petz.

 

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried

 

WHEREAS A PUBLIC HEARING WAS HELD ON Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.

 

BE IT HEREBY enacted that Local Law #2 of the year 2012 be adopted.

 

Mayor Scordino announced that Village of Babylon Offices will be closed and there will be no rubbish or garbage pick-up on Monday, May 28, 2012 in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday.  Just reminder residents cannot put rubbish or recycling out to the curb on holidays.  These items should be put out the following week on your regular scheduled rubbish/recycling day.
