A work session was held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.  On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, the meeting opened at 4:06 p.m.  On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 6:10 p.m.

RESOLVED to enter into Executive Session at 7:14 p.m. for legal counsel regarding sensitive properties.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Adams and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to return to the Public Session at 7:45 p.m.

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the March 13, 2018, regular meeting of the Board of Trustees and dispense with the reading of the same.

The Deputy Clerk read the letter from the Fire Department dated March 22, 2018:

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to accept the Fire Department actions as read.

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the ‘Save the Great South Bay’ Non-profit organization to hold its “Creek Defender Program” on Earth Day Eve, April 21st, 2018, from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 p.m. in Babylon Village, on the North side of Park Avenue, just east of the Carlls Creek by the tennis Courts.  This permission is granted contingent upon timely receipt of the required Certificates of Insurance with the Village of Babylon listed an ‘Additional Insured’, as well as a signed & notarized ‘Hold Harmless’ Agreement.

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to Suffolk Marine to use the Village Municipal Dock from Saturday, June 2, 2018 through Sunday, June 3, 2018 for the Striped Bass Tournament to be held on Sunday, June 3, 2018.  This permission is granted contingent upon timely receipt of the required Certificates of Insurance with the Village of Babylon listed an ‘Additional Insured’, as well as a signed & notarized ‘Hold Harmless’ Agreement.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to add property maintenance charges in the amount of $600.00 to the 2018/19 Tax Bill for 24 Paumanake Avenue.  [Section 7/ Block 1/ Lot 5]

Mayor Scordino made the following announcements:

-         Village Offices will close at 12:00 Noon on Friday, March 30, 2018, in observance of Good Friday.

-        The Budget for the 2018-2019 fiscal year was received by the Village Clerk from the Village Treasurer on March 19, 2018  and has been presented to the Board by the Village Clerk.

-        Please Take Notice:   The Annual Budget Hearing will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. where comments relating to the tentative budget will be heard.

Immediately following the Budget Hearing, the annual Organizational Meeting will be held.

Mayor Scordino complimented Skip Gardner and the Highway Department crew for the great job they did with the recent storm and thanked the residents for keeping their cars off the streets, which greatly helps the snow plowing efforts.

The Mayor also thanked Trustee Mary Adams and the Babylon Volunteer Corps for offering assistance to so many residents during the storm.

The meeting was opened to the public;

Frank Curtin, 420 Fire Island Avenue, followed up on project regarding flapper valves to stop flooding in Southern tier of Village
