REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BABYLON WAS HELD IN THE BOARDROOM OF THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING

153 WEST MAIN STREET, BABYLON NEW YORK ON TUESDAY,

 

MARCH 22, 2011

 

PRESENT: Mayor Ralph Scordino

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried

 

Mayor Scordino opened the work session at 6:45 p.m.

 

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried

 

Mayor Scordino adjourned the meeting at 7:00 p.m.

 

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried

 

After a Public Hearing Mayor Scordino resumed the work session at 8:00 p.m.

 

On the motion of  Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried

 

Mayor Scordino adjourned the work session at 8:30 p.m.

 

Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees opened at 8:30 p.m.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Trustee Basile

 

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

 RESOLVED TO: approve the minutes of the previous meeting and dispense with the reading of the same.  

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: approve the actions taken at the Fire Council meeting held on Tuesday March 15, 2011. Took Giusepe Pergolotti of the Fire Patrol off sick leave as of March 7, 2011 with medical clearance. Took Richard Nixon of the Fire Patrol off sick leave as of February 14, 2011 with medical clearance.  Took John Snyder of the Fire Patrol off sick leave as of February 17, 2011 with medical clearance.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: grant permission to St. Paul’s Reformed Church to hold an Easter Dawn Service at the Argyle Gazebo on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at 6:30 a.m.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: accept the resignation of Katie Cariello as a part time grant researcher

effective March 18, 2011.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: grant permission to Lisa Laing (Babylon Community Scholarship Fund) to maintain temporary signs in merchant windows for the 46th Annual Dinner and Fashion Show.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: accept the following warrant for March 22, 2011

General Fund:             $141,556.94

Conklin House:           $       241.30

                                    $141,798.24

Capital Fund:              $       200.00

Enterprise Fund:         $    1,107.73

Trust Fund:                 $    1,003.72

Fountain Fund:           $       325.81

Total:                           $144,435.50 

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: grant the application of Tess Helfman (BBCC) to maintain temporary signs in various merchant windows for the Chefs for a Cause to be held May 10th 2011.

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: terminate Jason Carroll as a sanitation laborer effective March 11, 2011 for failure to report to work.

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: increase the rates for the E. Donald Golf Course at Sumpwams Creek to the following effective March 17, 2011.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: accept the resignation of Robert Prichard as a highway laborer effective March 17, 2011.

 

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously

carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: grant permission to Babylon American Legion to Post #94 to hold the annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 30, 2011. The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Foster Blvd. south on Deer Park Ave. to Main Street then west on Main Street to the gazebo where the annual Memorial Day Ceremonies will be held.

 

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: grant permission to Lawrence Nye (Conklin House) to maintain temporary signs in merchant windows for the Frank Martino Art Show.

 

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of $125.00 to Mooney Realty LLC for the return of commercial building inspection.

 

Mayor Scordino announced that the Budget for the 2011 – 2012 fiscal year was received by the Village Clerk from the Village Treasurer on March 21, 2011, and has been presented to the Board by the Village Clerk.

 

Please Take Notice The Annual Budget hearing will be held on Monday, April 4, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. where comments relating to the tentative budget will be heard. 

Immediately following the Budget Hearing, the Annual Organizational Meeting will be held.

 

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: approve the following applicants a license to drive a taxi cab in the Village of Babylon for Lindy’s Taxi

Joseph Tropia

Andrew DeRosa

William McFarlane 

 

Mayor Scordino read the Resolution for Moratorium on Bar/Restaurants.

The Board was polled and the Resolution was unanimously approved.

 

Mayor Scordino announced that there will be 2 Public Hearings held on Tuesday,

April 12, 2011.

 

Meeting was opened to the Public.
