A work session was held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon on Tuesday, March 4, 2014.  On the motion of Trustee Amelia, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, the meeting opened at 4:25p.m. On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 5:50p.m.

Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees opened at 8:04 p.m.

The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Trustee Basile.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the February 25, 2014 regular meeting of the Board of Trustees and dispense with reading of the same.

On the motion of Trustee Amelia, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to issue refund in the amount of $25 to Danny Yeh, Masa DPY Corp. for the return of one (1) Board of Trustees sign for partial refund; property address: 94 Deer Park Ave.

On the motion of Trustee Amelia, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the following warrant for March 11, 2014:

Trustee Amelia commented that Applications for Summer Employment are available at Village Hall.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to issue a pro-rated refund in the amount of $186.00 to James Greco for returning his Resident Apartment Parking Decal.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to Bill Hofacker of LI Fitness to maintain a temporary 3’ x 6’ sign on the fence at 21 South Carll Avenue for a 3-week period, advertising the Grand Opening Special, “30 Days of Personal Training for $99”, subject to Landlord approval.

Trustee Basile announced that the Conklin House will be exhibiting photographs of Babylon; anyone interested in submitting photographs should call the Conklin House to register.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to hire Michael Markoulis as a Sanitation Laborer with an annual salary of $20,800 effective February 18, 2014.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to issue refunds in the amount of $50.00 to each of the applicants listed below for the return of two (2) ZBA signs for partial refund:

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to hire Michael Matunas as a Highway Laborer with a salary of $8.50 per hour effective February 24, 2014.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to deny the application for a license to drive a taxi cab in the Village of Babylon.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried,

WHEREAS on April 9, 2013, the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon (the “Village”), in the County of Suffolk, New York, has heretofore adopted a bond resolution in relation to the purchase of four meter pay stations, at the estimated cost of $70,000; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary and in the best interest of the Village to amend said bond resolution;

Now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BABYLON, IN THE COUNTY OF SUFFOLK, NEW YORK (by the favorable vote of not less than two-thirds of all members of said Board of Trustees) AS FOLLOWS:

Section A.  The bond resolution of said Village duly adopted by the Board of Trustees on April 9, 2013, entitled:

“Bond Resolution of the Village of Babylon, New York, adopted April 9, 2013, authorizing the purchase of four meter pay stations, stating the estimated maximum cost thereof is $70,000, appropriating said amount for such purpose, and authorizing the issuance of $70,000 serial bonds of said Village to finance said appropriation,”

is hereby amended to read as follows:

BOND RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF BABYLON, NEW YORK, ADOPTED APRIL 9, 2013 AND AMENDED MARCH 11, 2014, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF FOUR METER PAY STATIONS, STATING THE ESTIMATED MAXIMUM COST THEREOF IS $70,000, APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT FOR SUCH PURPOSE, AND AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF BONDS IN THE PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF $70,000 TO FINANCE SAID APPROPRIATION

The object or purpose for which the bonds are authorized is the purchase of four meter pay stations, at the estimated maximum cost of $70,000.

The period of probable usefulness is five (5) years.

The maximum amount of obligations authorized to be issued is $70,000.

Mayor Scordino made the following proclamation:

I, Ralph A. Scordino, Mayor of the Village of Babylon, do hereby designate Saturday, April 5, 2014, as BABYLON LITTLE LEAGUE DAY in the Village of Babylon.  I ask all residents to cooperate with the Little League in its program.

Meeting was opened to the public; no one addressed the Board.

Meeting adjourned 8:12 p.m.
