REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BABYLON WAS HELD IN THE BOARDROOM OF THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING 153 WEST MAIN STREET, BABYLON, NEW YORK ON TUESDAY,

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried

 

Mayor Scordino opened the work session

 

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously  carried

 

Mayor Scordino adjourned the meeting at 8:00 p.m.

 

Regular meeting opened at 8:05 p.m.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Trustee Davida

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: increase the salary of Caitlin Munson to $8.50 per hour effective as of June 6, 2011 having completed three months of employment.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: grant permission to the residents of Fire Island Ave. to hold a block party on Saturday, August 6th 2011 from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with a rain date of Sunday, August 7th.  The street will be blocked between Virginia Rd. and Robbins Ave.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: accept the resignation of Santina Fawess, effective June 3, 2011.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: enter into a Housing and Community Development Program Agreement with the Town of Babylon for fiscal years 2012 to 2014.

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: approve the following warrant for June 14, 2011

           

General Fund:              

$608,646.69

Conklin House Fund:

$        68.37

Golf Course Account:

$    2,060.50

Fountain Fund:

$    1,583.41

Total General Fund:

$612,358.97   

Trust Fund:

$    5,698.07

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: enter into a contract with Higbie Collision, Inc. as per the attached for them to tow a vehicle at the request of the Village of Babylon.

Fee charged to the owner of the vehicle towed will be $150.

$125 for Higbie Collision

And a $25 fee for the Village of Babylon.

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO:  issue a refund in the amount of $70.00 to Kevin Sparks, as he moved to a smaller slip in Lewis Pond.

 

ALSO RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of $260.00 to Greg Chero, he moved from main dock to a smaller slip in Beach Canal.

 

ALSO RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of $650.00 to Richard Francis, he is subletting his slip for the season and was given a check in the amount of $700.00, Mr. Francis was reimbursed for the electric which he did not pay for.

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: terminate the employment of Terrance Hotchkiss, part time Sanitation Laborer for excessive absenteeism, effective May 19, 2011. 

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: restore to the tax roll the following exempt properties:

Section 16   Block 3   Lot 26

271 Fire Island Ave., a Veterans Eligible Fund exemption in the amount of $1050.00 former owner Omen and bill new owner Sweeney for 281 days @ 0.35 per day for a total amount of $98.35 for the 2010-2011 tax year.  Bill new owner Sweeney for 365 days @ $0.36 per day for a total amount of $131.40 for the 2011-2012 tax year.

 

Section 16   Block 2   Lot 10

10 Reid Ave., an Alternative Veterans non-combat exemption in the amount of $1144.00 former owner Mitchell and bill new owner Force for 337 @ $0.38 per day for a total of $228.06 for the 2010-2011 tax year.  Bill new owner Force for 365 days @ $0.40 per day for a total of $146.00 for the 2011-2012 tax year.

 

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the total amount of $100.00 for the return of ZBA signs for a partial refund.

Patrick Reagan             $50.00

Dr. Paul Hubert            $50.00

 

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: hire Richard Heuwetter as a part time Highway Laborer with a salary of $8.50 per hour, effective May 31, 2011.

 

Trustee Davida reported that the Village Pool will open on June 18th and there will be late registration for swimming lessons on that day.  The pool will close and open again on Friday, June 24th for the season.

 

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimoiusly carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: accept the resignation of James Hotchkiss as a part time Sanitation Laborer, effective June 9, 2011.

 

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: grant permission to the residents of E. Harrison Ave. to hold a block party on Saturday, July 30th 2011 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.  The street will be blocked between Little East Neck Rd. and East Shore Drive.

 

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida, and unanimously carried

 

RESOLVED TO: dispose of the following records as per the New York State archives records retention schedule MU-1:  Warrant Vouchers dated June 1, 2004 through May 31, 2005.

 

Mayor Scordino announced that Village offices will be closed and there will be no rubbish or garbage pick-up on Monday July 4, 2011 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
