REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BABYLON, WAS HELD IN THE BOARDROOM OF THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING, 153 WEST MAIN STREET, BABYLON, NEW YORK ON TUESDAY,

 JULY 26, 2011

PRESENT: Mayor Ralph Scordino

Trustee: Kevin Muldowney

Trustee: Alice Vandervledt

Trustee: Tony Davida

Trustee: Debbie Basile

Attorney: Joel Sikowitz

 On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried

 Mayor Scordino opened the work session at 7:14 p.m.

 On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried

 Mayor Scordino adjourned the meeting at 7:55 p.m.
Regular meeting opened at 8:00 p.m.

The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Trustee Muldowney

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was          

RESOLVED TO: approve the minutes of the previous meeting and dispense with the reading of the same.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED TO: approve the following actions taken at the meeting of the Fire Council held on July 19, 2011.  Added Timothy Eisemann to the Driver’s List of Unit 1-2-10.  Added Kelly Maier to the Driver’s List of Unit 1-2-1.

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of $50.00 to Thomas O’brien for the return of two (2) ZBA signs for a partial refund.

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was 

RESOLVED TO: grant permission to the Babylon Rotary Club to hold the Annual Babylon Village 10K Run on Sunday, August 21, 2011.

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED TO: grant permission to the Babylon Rotary Club to maintain temporary signs in merchant windows for the Babylon Village Classic 10K Run.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED TO: grant permission to the Babylon Tuna Club to use the Village Dock on Saturday, August 27th to host the Annual Snapper Derby Event

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of $100.00 to James Giorgio, he moved to a smaller slip on East Creek.

Trustee Muldowney announced that the Tuna Tournament is this coming weekend and all proceeds will go to American Veterans Association through Post #94.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of $35.00 to Gina Merigliano for Dreya Merigliano’s WSI aide lesson registration at the Village Pool.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED THAT: the Open Container section of the Village Code, Chapter 256, is hereby waived for the Annual Country Fair on September 18, 2011, with a rain date of September 25, 2011.  This pertains only to the gazebo area of Argyle Park.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED TO: grant permission to Young Imagination to cut a piece of awning from the original store that says “Toys” and mount to existing framework of new store located at 130 Deer Park Ave. temporarily until final approval from ZBA.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED TO: approve the following warrant for July 26, 2011

General Fund:               $551,767.60

Conklin House Trust:    $       247.50

Golf Course Account:   $    2,618.85

Fountain Fund:  $    2,475.00   

Total General Fund:      $557,109.05

Trust Fund:                   $     4,074.24

 Total:                           $561,183.20

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously

carried it was

RESOLVED TO: enter into an Inter-Municipal Agreement with the County of Suffolk for drainage to CR 96, Great East Neck Rd. in the vicinity of Evergreen Street Village of Babylon.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED TO: approve the following applicant a license to drive a taxi in the Village of Babylon for Sunset Taxi: Samuel Castro

Mayor Scordino announced that there will be no second Board Meeting in August.

Meeting was opened to the Public
