A work session was held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon on Tuesday, February 28, 2017.  On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Adams and unanimously carried, the meeting opened at 7:10 p.m.  On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Adams and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.

Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees opened at 8:00 p.m.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Trustee Muldowney.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the February 14th, 2017, regular meeting of the Board of Trustees and dispense with the reading of the same.

The Village Clerk read the letter from the Fire Department dated February 25, 2017:

At the regular monthly meeting of the Fire Council held February 21, 2017, the Fire Council took the following actions and we await your approval:

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to accept the Fire Department actions as read.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney  and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to St. Paul’s Reformed Church to hold a dawn worship service at the Argyle Park Gazebo on Easter Sunday, April 16th, 2017, at 6:30 a.m.  This permission is granted contingent upon timely receipt of the required Certificates of Insurance with the Village of Babylon listed as an “Additional Insured”, as well as a signed & notarized ‘Hold Harmless’ Agreement.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney  and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition to maintain temporary signs at various merchants throughout the Village from March 1st to March 12th, 2017, to advertise their Bowling Fundraiser.

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to Danny O’Donnell of Tres Palms Restaurant to host a Save the Great South Bay fundraiser on May 21st, 2017, with live outdoor music until 7:00 pm., and guest parking in the Village pool parking lot.  This permission is granted contingent upon timely receipt of the required Certificates of Insurance with the Village of Babylon listed as an “Additional Insured”, as well as a signed & notarized ‘Hold Harmless’ Agreement.

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition to maintain temporary signs at various merchants throughout the Village from April 17th to May 18th, 2017, to advertise their Chefs for a Cause fundraiser.

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to appoint additional Poll Inspectors as Alternates for the Village Election to be held on March 21, 2017, as per the attached list.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Adams and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to St. Joseph’s Church to hold a ‘LIVE STATIONS OF THE CROSS’ on Good Friday, April 14, 2017, from 1:15 p.m. to approximately 3:00 p.m.  This permission is granted contingent upon timely receipt of the required Certificates of Insurance with the Village of Babylon listed as an “Additional Insured”, as well as a signed & notarized ‘Hold Harmless’ Agreement.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Adams and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to Joan Crockett to display 30 temporary signs, [24” x 18”], on various lawns in the Village of Babylon, for 15 days beginning March 7th, 2017, regarding her candidacy for Trustee.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Adams and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the following warrant for February 28, 2017:

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried,

WHEREAS a Public Hearing was held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, be it hereby enacted the following Local Law, proposed as Local Law #1 of 2017, is HEREBY ADOPTED as:

Local Law # 1 of the year 2017 authorizing a property tax levy increase in excess of the limit established in General Municipal Law § 3-C.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried,

RESOLVED to grant a license to the following applicant(s) to drive a taxi cab for Lindy’s Taxi in the Village of Babylon:          - Christopher Martino,   Andrew Middleton 

Mayor Scordino made the following announcement:

The Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at 7:00 p.m., to consider the application of Frank Genovas to make changes to the existing Francesco’s Restaurant at 29 John Street.  Copy of application and plans may be examined in the Office of the Village Clerk, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The meeting was opened to the public;
