A work session was held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon on Tuesday, February 25, 2014.  On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, the meeting opened at 7:05p.m. On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 8:05p.m.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the February 11, 2014 regular meeting of the Board of Trustees and dispense with reading of the same.

RESOLVED to grant permission to the Babylon Rotary Club to hold the Annual Babylon Village Classic 10K Run on Sunday, August 17, 2014.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to issue refunds in the amount of $70 to each of the residents listed below for changing from ‘Reserved’ parking decals to ‘Occasional Use’ parking decals:

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the Babylon Public Library to use the Village Gazebo to host a Summer Reading Club program on Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm., subject to availability on that date.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the Citizens Campaign for the Environment to canvass in the Village of Babylon from March 24 to April 4, 2014, between the hours of 4:00pm and 8:00pm.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to engage the Accounting Firm of Condon, O’Meara, McGinty & Donnelly, LLP, to perform the Federal Single Audit for the Fiscal Year 2012/13 and 2013/14 for a fee to range from $10,000 to $12,000.

On the motion of Trustee Amelia, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to St. Joseph’s Church to have a ‘LIVE STATIONS OF THE CROSS’ on Good Friday, April 18, 2014, from 1:15 pm until approximately 3:00 pm.

On the motion of Trustee Amelia, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried,

Whereas a Public Hearing was held on February 11, 2014, be it hereby enacted the following Local Law is HEREBY ADOPTED:

Local Law #1 of the year 2014 authorizing a property tax levy increase in excess of the limit established in General Municipal Law §3-c, which is 2%.

Trustee Amelia commented that applications for summer employment are currently available in the Mayors’ Office at Village Hall.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve and grant license to Timothy Gage to drive a taxi cab for Sunset Taxi in the Village of Babylon.

Meeting was opened to the Public:

Mr. Christopher Walsh, 40 Stowe Avenue

Mr. Walsh addressed the Mayor and the Board of Trustees to express his sincere gratitude for all their help in dealing with the abandoned home in his neighborhood.  He thanked all Village personnel involved for their immediate response and prompt action taken, and offered his personal assistance until the situation is rectified.
