REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BABYLON WAS HELD IN THE BOARDROOM OF THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING

153 WEST MAIN STREET, BABYLON, NEW YORK ON TUESDAY,

 

FEBRUARY 14, 2012

 

PRESENT: Mayor Ralph Scordino

Trustee: Kevin Muldowney

Trustee: Alice Vanderveldt

Trustee: Tony Davida

Trustee: Debbie Basil

 

 

 

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously

carried

 

Mayor Scordino opened the work session at 7:27 p.m.

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried

 

Mayor Scordino adjourned the meeting at 7:55 p.m.

 

Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was opened at 8:00 p.m.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Trustee Basile 

 

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: approve the minutes of the previous meeting and dispense with the reading of the same.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED TO: restore to the tax roll the following exempt property

Section  2    Block   2    Lot  29

176 Livingston Ave. formerly owned by Robert and Patricia McLoughlin a Veterans Eligible Fund Exemption in the amount of $264.00 and bill new owners Jason Strippins and Alexandra Mcavoy in the amount of $19.44 for 216 days @ $0.09 a day for the 2011-2012 tax year.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney, and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of $70.00 to Richard Belletti, he moved from reserved #697 to the 800 lot (difference of $70.00).

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: accept the resignation of Jackie Vukovich as a part time clerical employee in the Court offices, effective January 31, 2012.

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of $19.34 for the overpayment of taxes on

District  102   Section  17  Block  2   Lot  101

0 Mooring Berth 18A

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of $38.76 for the overpayment of taxes on

District  102   Section  17 Block  2   Lot  108

3 Waters Edge Ct.

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of $17.06 for overpayment of taxes on

District 102  Section  15   Block  1   Lot  109

53 Cutter Place

 

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of  $70.00 to Peter Fiorillo, he moved from a reserved #639 to the 800 lot (difference of $70.00)

 

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: approve the following warrant for February 14, 2012

 

General Fund: $ 231,175.06
Conklin House Fund: $        300.00
Golf Course Fund: $   10,728.04
Total General Fund: $ 242,203.10
Total: $ 242,203.10

 

 

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the total amount of $125.00 to the following for the return of ZBA signs for a partial refund:

Myra Blaney               $25

Jonah Romanitch        $25

Stephen Rupolo          $25

Thomas Spreer           $50

 

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Village Board of the Village of Babylon, hereby establish standard workdays for the attached for the purpose of determining days worked reportable to the New York State and Local Employees’ Retirement system:

 

The appointed official listed below will not be submitting the required three month calendar log as she does not care to have hours reported to the retirement system

Trustee Basile announced that on Sunday, March 4th the Conklin House will be hosting an Irish story teller in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.

 

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: issue the following applicant a license to drive a taxi in the Village for 

Sunset:

Joseph Gonzalez

 

Mayor Scordino made the following announcements:

 

Village of Babylon offices will be closed and there will be no rubbish or garbage pick-up on Monday, February 20, 2012 in observance of the Presidents Day Holiday.  Just a reminder that residents cannot put rubbish or recycling out to the curb on Holidays.  These items should be put out the following week on your regular scheduled rubbish/recycling day.

 

Please be advised that summer applications will be available in the Mayor’s office starting on Tuesday, February 21, 2012.  Applicants for summer jobs must be at least 16 years old.  However, applications will be accepted for residents 15 years of age, and these applications will be kept on file and only used if additional students are needed.

 

Grievance Day will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
