A work session was held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon on Tuesday, February 10, 2015.  On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, the meeting opened at 7:55 p.m.  On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 8:08 p.m.

REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

OF THE VILLAGE OF BABYLON WAS HELD IN THE BOARDROOM,

Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees opened at 8:16 p.m.

The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Trustee Basile.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the January 28, 2015 regular meeting of the Board of Trustees and dispense with the reading of the same.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to terminate the employment of Christopher Diorio as a highway laborer effective January 30, 2015.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to correct the total assessed value of the Alternative Veterans Exemptions for the 2015-2016 assessment roll to be 134,635, which is an increase of 35,894 in

assessed value from the 2014 tax year.  This is in lieu of the 36,288 increase previously stated in the resolution dated January 28th, 2015.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Amelia and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to accept the Audited Financial Statements beginning June 1, 2011 and ending May 31, 2012, as prepared by Skinnon and Faber, CPA, P.C.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to accept the resignation of Erroll Wunderlin as a highway laborer effective January 11, 2015.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to issue a refund in the amount of $60.20 to Kathy Hoffman for duplicate payment of the 2010/11 E.P.R. for 109 Cadman Avenue, Section 5,  Block 2, Lot 80.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED in accordance with the Records Retention and Disposition Schedule, MU-1, the following items are to be disposed of:

Treasurer’s Office Storage Boxes – dated Fiscal Year 2003/04 through Fiscal Year 2007/08

On the motion of Trustee Amelia, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the Babylon Junior-Senior High School to use the South field on Locust Avenue on Friday, May 8th, 2015, at 7:00 p.m., to host the Fourth Annual Peter Figoski Memorial Softball Game.  This permission is granted contingent upon timely receipt of required Certificates of Insurance, with the Village of Babylon listed as an Additional Insured.

On the motion of Trustee Amelia, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED that the Village of Babylon retain the law firm of Bee Ready Fishbein Hatter & Donovan LLP to represent them on labor and other matters as needed.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the Babylon Village Arts Council to use Argyle Park, east of the Memorial Garden, on May 16th and May 17th, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the Eighth Annual Outdoor Art Exhibit.  This permission is contingent upon timely receipt of required Certificates of Insurance, with the Village of Babylon listed as an Additional Insured.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the following warrant for February 10, 2015:

General Account:        $ 184,768.84

Total General Fund:    $ 184,768.84

TOTAL:                     $ 184,768.84

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOVLED to apply a Senior Citizen Exemption to 17 East Shore Drive (Section 20, Block 2, Lot 20) as per the attached Assessor Petition.

Trustee Basile announced that the Conklin House will be hosting a Tea this Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  She also commented that next month at the Conklin House there will be a seafood demonstration and tasting.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant a license to the applicant listed below to drive a taxi cab for Lindy’s Taxi in the Village of Babylon:          Paul Verricelli

Mayor Scordino made the following announcements:

Village of Babylon Offices will be closed and there will be no rubbish or garbage pick-up on Monday, February 16, 2015, in observance of the President’s Day Holiday.  Residents should not put rubbish or recycling out to the curb on holidays.  These items should be put out the following week on your regularly scheduled rubbish / recycling day.

Please be advised that Summer Applications will be available in the Mayor’s Office starting on Tuesday, February 17, 2015.  Applicants for summer jobs must be at least 16 years old.  However, applications will be accepted for residents 15 years of age, and these applications will be kept on file and only used if additional students are needed.

The Meeting was opened to the public; no one addressed the Board.
