REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BABYLON WAS HELD IN THE BOARDROOM, 153 WEST MAIN STREET BABYLON, NEW YORK ON TUESDAY

 

JUNE 12, 2012

PRESENT: Mayor Ralph Scordino

On the motion of  Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried

 

Mayor Scordino opened the work session at 8:08 p.m.

 

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried

 

Mayor Scordino adjourned the meeting at 8:25 p.m.

 

Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees opened at 8:30 p.m.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Trustee Muldowney

 

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: approve the minutes of the previous meeting and dispense with the reading of the same.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: hire the following director with regard to the summer recreation program see attached.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of $50.00 to the following for the return of a ZBA sign for a partial refund.

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED IN ACCORDANCE with the Service Road Program a portion of the following service road is conveyed to the adjacent property owner:

Part of Section 5 Block 3  Lot  97.1 adjoining 128 Livingston Avenue (Section 5 Block 3 Lot 49).

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: dispose of the following records as per the New York State archives record retention schedule MU-1: Warrant Vouchers dated June 1, 2005 through May 31, 2006.

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: approve the following warrant for June 12, 2012

 

General Account:

$317,274.42

Conklin House Account:

$    1,427.71

Golf Course Account:

$    1,987.00

Total General Account:

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of $605.00 to Charles Swensen as he gave up this slip #37 in Lewis Pond.

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: correct the resolution for a refund in the amount of $585 to Barry Corbett dated May 22, 2012, the refund should have been in the amount of $1170.00 as he is a non-resident business owner in the Village.

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of $800 to John Coffen as his slip is being sublet for the 2012 season.

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: amend the title of Joseph Porco to starter at the golf course with no change in salary, as of May 19, 2012.

 

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: hire the following employees with regard to the pool for the 2012 season see attached.

 

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO:  issue a refund for the overpayment of taxes on the following

properties:

Section  4   Block  1  Lot  61.2   30 Belton Rd. in the amount of $195.16

Section  4   Block  2  Lot  40  79 Ketewamoke  Ave. in the amount of $208.66

 

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile, and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: grant permission to the residents of Cadman Ave. to hold a block party on Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with a rain date of Sunday, June

24, 2012.  The street will be blocked between Park Ave. and Locust Ave.

 

Trustee Davida announced that the Village Pool will open for this weekend and then close for the following week and open on the 22nd of June.

 

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: terminate the employment of Rashon Cooper for failure to report to work, effective May 29, 2012.

 

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: remove from the tax roll the following exempt property:

Section  11.1  Block  1  Lot  27

21 Whaler’s Cove Rd. a Senior Citizen exemption in the amount of $2478.00 former owner McLoughlin and bill new owner Galasso for 49 days @ $0.84 per day for the 2011-2012 tax year.

 

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: grant permission to Babylon Village Arts Council to maintain temporary signs at the following locations for the “Free Concert at the Conklin House” at the end of  231 entrance to the Village, Deer Park Ave. 5 corner intersection on 27A and 109 and also at the Conklin House.  The signs will be displayed for two weeks.

 

Trustee Basile announced that on Thursday, June 21st the Conklin House will sponsor an

Herb tasting, the cost is $25.00.

 

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: approve the following applicant a license to drive a taxi cab in the Village of Babylon for Lindy’s.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldwoney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO:  to approve the following applicant a license to drive a taxi cab in the Village of Babylon for Lindy’s:

James Gagliardi

 

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: deny Sidney Disher a license to drive a taxi cab in the Village of Babylon for Sunset taxi.

 

Mayor Scordino announced that there will be a Bid Opening on July 12, 2012 for the following:  Contract No.1:  Foundation Contract

Contract No. 2: Geothermal and Solar Panel Contract

Contract No. 3: Modular Building Contract 

 

Meeting was opened to the Public
