MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BABYLON WAS HELD IN THE BOARDROOM OF THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING

153 WEST MAIN STREET BABYLON, NEW YORK ON TUESDAY

On the motion of Trustee Mudlowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried

 

Mayor Scordino opened the work session at 7:20 p.m.

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried

 

Mayor Scordino adjourned the work session at 7:55 p.m.

 

Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was opened at 8:00 p.m.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Trustee Vanderveldt

 

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: approve the minutes of the previous meeting and dispense with the reading of the same.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: terminate the employment of Willie McNeil as a part time sanitation employee, effective November 7, 2012.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: restore to the tax roll the following exempt properties:

 16-3-72    79 Shore Rd. – formerly owned by County of Suffolk – Exempt property in the amount of $6,240 and bill new owner Grossman in the total amount of $809.90 for the 2012 -2013 tax year.

 

16-1-4    30 Cedar Lane – formerly owned by Albro an Alternative Veterans Combat exemption in the amount of $500.00 and bill new owner Riina for 297 days @ 0.17 cents a day for a total amount of $50.49 for the 2012-2013 tax year.

 

13-2-22    43 Thompson Ave. - formerly owned by McMillan an Alternative Veterans Non-combat exemption in the amount of $300.00 and bill new owner Busch for 315 days @ 0.10 cents a day for a total amount of $31.50 for the 2012-2013 tax year.  

 

2-2-55.1   201 Livingston Ave. – formerly owned by Sann an Alternative Veterans Non-combat exemption in the amount of $300.00 and bill new owner Ozlek for 310 days @ 0.10 cents a day for a total amount of $32.50 for the 2012-2013 tax year.

 

4-1-27   129 Wyandanch Ave. – formerly owned by Gutman a Veterans Eligible Fund exemption in the amount of  $1,450.00 and bill new owner Hansen for 359 days @ 0.51 cents a day for a total of $183.09 for the 2012-2013 tax year.

15-2-36   99 Woodsome Rd. – formerly owned by Lipkind a Veterans Eligible Fund exemption in the amount of $1150.00 and bill new owner Jaworski for 301 days @0.40 cents a day for a total amount of $120.40 for the 2012-2013 tax year.

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: hire Marietta Menchini, as a part time clerical employee with a salary of $8.25 per hour effective October 29, 2012.

 

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the total amount of $150.00 to the following for the return of ZBA signs for a partial refund.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: terminate the employment of James Simmons as a part time sanitation employee, effective November 7, 2012.

 

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: grant permission to the Babylon Village Girl Scouts to use the Gazebo for their annual Holiday Gathering on Saturday, December 1, 2012.

 

Trustee Davida reported that the Village Pool took a bad hit as a result of the hurricane. However, it is the goal of the Village to have the pool up and running for the 2013 season.

 

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: approve the following warrant for November 13, 2012

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: terminate the employment of Anthony Bongiorno as a part time highway employee, effective October 12, 2012.

 

Trustee Basile announced that the Conklin House will hold the Annual Cookie Contest

On November 29th and the Village night of shopping will be on Friday, November 30th as well as Christmas at the Conklin House. 

 

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: designate, and amend Election Districts for the Village Elections as follows:

1st   Election District: Babylon Memorial Grade School 169 Park Ave.

2nd   Election District: Municipal Building, 153 W. Main St.

3rd   Election District: Lutheran Church 576 Deer Park Ave.

4th   Election District  Babylon Memorial Grade School 169 Park Ave.

15th Election District  Lutheran Church 576 Deer Park Ave.

23rd Election District  Babylon Public Library 24 S. Carll Ave.

61st Election District   Municipal Building, 153 W. Main St.

 

For the purposes of the Village Elections only (held in March) the following changes have been made:

 

Suffolk County Election Districts 21, 33, 94, 121, 142 – have been merged in with the following (still vote in the same location)

Suffolk County Districts # 94 & 121 are now designated as a part of Village Election District #1 at the Babylon Memorial Grade School

 

Suffolk County Districts #21 & 33 are now designated as a part of Village Election District #4 at the Babylon Memorial Grade School

 

Suffolk County District # 142 is now designated as a part time of Village Election District #2 at the Municipal Building 153 W. Main St.

 

Mayor Scordino read the following resolution

 

Resolved to: accept with regret the resignation of Trustee Alice Vanderveldt, effective November 14, 2012.

 

Mayor Scordino wished everyone a Happy Healthy Thanksgiving.
