MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BABYLON WAS HELD IN THE BOARDROOM OF THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING

 153 WEST MAIN ST. BABYLON, NEW YORK ON TUESDAY

SEPTEMBER 25, 2012

PRESENT: Mayor Ralph Scordino

Absent: Trustee Vanderveldt

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried

Mayor Scordino opened the work session at 7:05 p.m.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried

Mayor Scordino adjourned the meeting at 7:55 p.m.

Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was opened at 8:00 p.m. 

The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Trustee Davida

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED TO: approve the minutes of the previous meeting and dispense with the reading of the same.

On the motion of Trustee Muldwoney, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED TO: approve the actions taken at the meeting of the Fire Council held on Tuesday, September 18, 2012.  Took Barbara Maier of the Argyle Hose off sick leave as of July 20, 2012 with medical clearance.  Placed Harold Kelland of the Fire Patrol on sick leave as of July 31, 2012.  Took Harold Kelland of the Fire Patrol off sick leave as of July 26, 2012 with medical clearance. Placed Barbara Gombert of the Phoenix Hose on

sick leave as of September 4, 2012.  Took James Schellhorn off sick leave as of September 11, 2012 with medical clearance.  Placed William Tillinghast Sr. of the Hook & Ladder on sick leave as of August 12, 2012.  Placed Kenneth Foley of the Sumpwams Hose on sick leave as of August 22, 2102.  Placed Robert Santos of the Argyle Hose on sick leave as of September 11, 2012.  Took William Sadousky of the Electric Hose off sick leave as of August 30, 2012 with medical clearance.  Took Leland McLaughlin of the Electric Hose off sick leave as of September 7, 2012 with medical clearance. Accepted Richard Froehlich of the Fire Patrol as an Active Member following

completion of his Probationary Period.  Accepted John Capizzi of the Electric Hose as an Active Member following completion of his Probationary period.  Changed the status of Roger Carpenter of the Electric Hose from Active Member to Senior In-Active Member.

Changed the status of Ronald Schaal of the Fiore Patrol from Active Member to Senior- Inactive Member.  Accepted Drew Tatzel as a Probationary Member of the Sumpwams Hose. Extended the Probationary Period of Jason Witthohn by six months to allow him to complete the Suffolk County Fire Academy hands on training.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED TO: increase the salary of Brian Canobbio, $1000.00 effective September 5, 2012 having completed the six month probationary period.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of $200.00 to DiCanio Management for partial refund of ZBA application.

Trustee Muldowney that the golf course has been very busy and there will be two (2)

outings in October, the 13th is the Village Cup and the 15th is the BCC.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED TO: grant permission to Babylon Jr. Sr. High School to hold a Homecoming Parade on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. The parade will start in the Municipal lot behind Gemelli’s.  See attached.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED TO: approve the following warrant for September 25, 2012.

Trustee Davida reported that STOP Day was a huge success.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried

it was

RESOLVED THAT: the Village of Babylon Records Management Program advisory board be amended as follows:

The following are hereby appointed to the advisory board:

Pat Carley, Village Clerk as records management officer

Suzanne Schettino

Valerie Fronzo

Debbie Longo

Skip Gardner

Irene Ivanoff

The records advisory board shall meet once a month to discuss records management progress.        

ON the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED TO: approve the request of the Babylon Village Women’s Club to hold the annual Post Office5K run on the morning of Saturday, October 20, 2012.

Trustee Basile announced that the Apples and Arts Festival will be held on October

19, 20, and 21st.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

RESOLVED TO: approve the following applicants a license to drive a taxi cab in the Village of Babylon for Lindy’s

William Kuttler

David Marcus

Mushir Jalal

Mayor Scordino announced that Village of Babylon offices will be closed and there will be no rubbish or garbage pick-up on Monday, October 8, 2012 in observance of the Columbus Day Holiday.  Just a reminder that residents cannot put rubbish or recycling out to the curb on holidays.  These items should be put out the following week on your regular scheduled rubbish recycling day.
