A work session was held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon on Tuesday, August 9th, 2016.  On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, the meeting opened at 9:00 p.m.  On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 9:10 p.m.

REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

OF THE VILLAGE OF BABYLON WAS HELD IN THE BOARDROOM,

ON TUESDAY,

Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees opened at 9:10 p.m.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Trustee Adams.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the July 26th, 2016, regular meeting of the Board of Trustees and dispense with the reading of the same.

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to remove the current exemption and restore full assessment to the property(ies) listed as per the attached Assessor Petition(s), and bill the new owners accordingly, for the Tax Year(s) as indicated.

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to issue a refund in the amount of $6.53 to John Heaton for overpayment of 2016/17 Taxes on 30 Park Avenue.   [Section 6/ Block 3/ Lot 63]

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to correct the warrant for July 26, 2016, and increase the General Fund by $29.10.

Trustee Adams announced that the “Dirty Sock” Run will be held this Sunday, August 14th, 2016.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Adams and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to accept the resignation of Robert D’Andrea as a sanitation laborer effective July 7, 2016.

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Adams and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to issue refunds in the amounts indicated below to each of the applicants listed for the return of ZBA sign(s) for partial refund:

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Adams and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED that the Village of Babylon hold the annual S.T.O.P. (Stop Throwing Out Pollutants) Day on September 24, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to Noon, with a paper shredding truck available to Village Residents from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to issue a refund in the amount of $16.20 to Tony & Noelle Schultz for overpayment of 2016/17 Taxes on 53 Levant Avenue.   [Section 5/ Block 1/ Lot 17.4]

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to hire Christopher Abbatepaolo as a part time parking meter officer with a salary of $10.50 per hour, effective July 1, 2016.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to accept the resignation of Rachel Schwartz as a clerk typist in the Village Justice Court, effective August 1, 2016.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the residents of Ketewamoke Avenue to hold a Block Party on Saturday, September 10, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The street will be blocked between Wampum Avenue and Deer Park Avenue, subject to parking restrictions for emergency purposes.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to accept the resignation of Mary Adams as a member of the Architectural Review Board effective July 3, 2016.

Trustee Basile announced the “Senior, Senior Photo Exhibit” to be held at the Conklin House on August 28, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant a license to the following applicants to drive a taxi cab for Lindy’s Taxi in the Village of Babylon:

Mayor Scordino made the following comments:

Please be advised that there will be no second Board Meeting in August.

Village of Babylon Offices will be closed and there will be no rubbish or garbage pick-up on Monday, September 5, 2016, in observance of the Labor Day Holiday.  Residents should not put rubbish or recycling out to the curb on holidays.

The following Girl Scouts from Babylon Troop #283 approached the Board:

Alexandria Morrow, Litchfield Ave.

Skylar Frole, Midwood Rd.

Alexandria and Skylar are working toward their ‘Silver Award’ and have requested “Children at Play” signs on both sides of Litchfield Ave., between Park Ave. and Locust Ave.  They submitted a petition with residents’ signatures, and plan to hold a garage sale to raise money to either pay for the signs, or to donate to the Babylon Beautification Society.
