A work session was held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon on Tuesday, August 1, 2017.  On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, the meeting opened at 4:37 p.m.  On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the July 25th, 2017, regular meeting of the Board of Trustees and dispense with the reading of the same.

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to issue a refund to the Law Office of Robert G. Litt, in the amount of $1,045.10, as per the attached court-ordered settlement for the Tax Years and parcels listed.

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED that the Village of Babylon hold the annual S.T.O.P. (Stop Throwing Out Pollutants) Day on September 23, 2017 from 9:00 AM to Noon, with a paper shredding truck available to Village residents from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

On the motion of Trustee Adams, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to issue a refund in the amount of $100.00 to Brooke Jankow for the return of two Board of Trustees Public Hearing signs for partial refund.   [Property address:  135 Deer Park Ave, Suite 2 / Swell Taco – Public Hearing 6/27/2017]

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant permission to the residents of Strong Avenue to hold a Block Party on Saturday, September 9th, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with a rain date of Sunday, September 10th, 2017.  The street will be blocked between Deer Park Avenue and Siegel Blvd., subject to parking restrictions for emergency purposes.

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to issue a refund to Schroder & Strom, in the amount of $424.02, as per the attached court-ordered settlements for the Tax Years and parcels listed.

Mayor Scordino thanked Trustee Adams for the great job she did with the Summer Recreation programs; approximately 325 children participated.

Mayor Scordino read the following resolution and polled the Board:

WHEREAS A Public Hearing was held on Tuesday, July 25th, 2017, be it hereby enacted that the following Local Law, proposed as Local Law #8 of 2017, is HEREBY ADOPTED as:

Local Law 8 of 2017, adding Chapter 257 to Village Code, pertaining to Unmanned Aircraft Systems / Drones.

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried, it was

RESOLVED to grant a license to the following applicants to drive a taxi cab for Lindy’s Taxi in the Village of Babylon:          Andrew Ladd

Mayor Scordino made the following announcements:

1)         Please be advised that there will be no Second Board Meeting in August.

2)         Village of Babylon Offices will be closed and there will be no rubbish or garbage pick-up on Monday, September 4, 2017, in observance of the Labor Day Holiday.  Residents should not put rubbish or recycling out to the curb on holidays.  These items should be put out the following week on your regular scheduled rubbish / recycling day.

3)         The Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. to consider the following:

            - Proposed Local Law #9 of 2017;   Mortgage Default, Vacant, & Rental Properties

            - 121-127 Deer Park Avenue, Mary Carrolls, for approval for outdoor expansion

The meeting was opened to the public;

Frank Curtin, 420 Fire Island Avenue; inquired about proposed Local Law #9 of 2017; commented on the great season at the Village Pool due to the fantastic jobs of all Pool employees
