REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BABYLON WAS HELD IN THE BOARDROOM 153 WEST MAIN STREET

TUESDAY, APRIL 10, 2012

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried

 

The work session opened at 8:12 p.m.

The work session was adjourned at 8:25 p.m.

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously it was

 

RESOLVED TO: approve the minutes of the previous meeting and dispense with the reading of the same

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: approve the actions taken at the meeting of the General Convention of the Babylon Fire Department on Thursday April 5, 2012 as prescribed by Article III, Section 1 of the Department Bylaws. The purpose of the Convention was to elect nominees for the office of Chief of the Department, First Assistant Chief, Second Assistant Chief and Third Assistant Chief. The nominees receiving the majority of votes were as follows:

Chief of the Department                    Paul Twardy

First Assistant Chief                          Michael A. Sasuk

Second Assistant Chief                      Scott A. Glenn

Third Assistant Chief                         Michael A. Golub

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: increase the salary of William Thiel, $1,000.00 effective April 3, 2012, having completed the six month probationary period.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: grant permission to Anthony Carabba to maintain a temporary sign at 200 West Main St. See attached layout.

 

On the motion of Trustee Vanderveldt, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED THAT: the following bands perform at our Summer Concert Program:

July 6, 2012:               The Joel Sikowitz Orchestra

July 13, 2012:             Soundtrac

July 20, 2012:             The Banjo Rascals

July 27, 2012:             The Linda Ciofalo Swing Band

August 3, 2012:          The Great South Dixieland Jazz

August 10, 2012:        The Long Island Banjo Society

August 17, 2012:        Piece of the Rock

August 24, 2012:        Union Jazz Coalition

August 31, 2012:        New York’s Most Dangerous Big Band

 

On the motion of Trustee Mudowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously

carried it was  

 

RESOLVED TO: hire Philip DeGregoria, as a part time Sanitation Laborer with a salary of $8.50 per hour effective April 2, 2012.

 

On the motion of Trustee Muldowney, seconded by Trustee Vanderveldt and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of $110.00 to Walter Frederick, he moved from slip #35 on Main Dock to slip #76 in Lewis Pond.

 

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: remove from the tax roll the following exempt property:

Section  11.1   Block  1   Lot  114

 

116 Whaler’s Cove – formerly owned by Secretary of Housing & Urban Development

A Veterans Eligible Fund Exemption in the amount of $4865 and bill new owner Megan Bove in the amount of $572.70 for 345 days @ $1.66 a day for the 2011-2012 tax year.   

 

On the motion of Trustee Davida, seconded by Trustee Basile and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: issue a refund in the amount of $210.00 to Diane Muldowney for giving up reserved parking space #469.

 

On the motion of Trustee Basile, seconded by Trustee Davida and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: approve the following warrant for April 10, 2012

General Account:                   $ 143,881.16

Conklin House Account:        $        462.84

Golf Course Account:            $    7,233.15

Total General Fund:               $ 151,577.15

Trust Fund:                             $        807.63

Total:                                      $ 152,384.78

 

 

Trustee Basile announced that there will be a plant sale at the Conklin House on May 5th and 6th.

 

WHEREAS a Public Hearing was held on Tuesday, March 27, 2012

 

BE IT HEREBY resolved to approve the application of Leo DeNicola to open a

Tex Mex restaurant located at 117 Deer Park Ave.

 

ALSO be it hereby resolved to adopt the covenants and restrictions determined by the Village Attorney.

 

On the motion of Mayor Scordino, seconded by Trustee Muldowney and unanimously carried it was

 

RESOLVED TO: approve the application of Prescod Silvano to drive a taxi in the Village of Babylon for Sunset.

 

Mayor Scordino read the Mayor’s Proclamation

I, Ralph A. Scordino, Mayor of the Village of Babylon, do hereby designate Saturday, April 21, 2012, as BABYLON LITTLE LEAGUE DAY in the Village of Babylon. 

I ask all residents to cooperate with the Little League in its program.

 

The meeting was opened to the Public.
